TULASI

Tulasi is a well known plant, usually available in every Hindu house across India. Tulasi is very sacred and divine of all the plants.

The divinity of Tulasi plant spreads in the home, and all the surroundings.

Tulasi(sacred basil) name is common all over India and the botanical name is Ocimum Sanctum. Its qualities are incomparable and that is why it is called Tulasi. Tula means to compare.

Brahmanda puranam says that those who Worship Lord Vishnu ardently with Tulasi leaves shall attain all prosperity in the world and also receive the benefit of Aswamedha Yaga(sacrifice).

Tulasi plants can be grown in front of the house and backside of the house. Where Tulasi is there, all deities reside in that place.

Yanmule sarva thirthani, yanmadye sarva devatha, Yadagre sarva vedashcha, Tulasi thvam namam mayham.

Tulasi is worshiped in all Indian houses, prayers offered to Tulasi everyday and every morning by watering the plant. Tulasi tree is believed to protect the marital bliss of a woman.

Whatever offered to Him (Lord Krishna) in devotion with pure heart, a leaf, a flower, fruit and water He accepts it with joy. Offer Tulasi leaves to Lord Krishna, which is dearly plant to him, it gives contentment in life.

Tulasi protects us throughout the life. Tulasi is very useful for cleanliness, purity of mind and body. Where ever its good inspiration(breathe) spreads there in the body and mind, everything will be purified.

Tulasi leaves have good smell. Tulasi gives good feeling and happiness. Tulasi produces respiratory wind abundantly and since it is known to drive away evils.

Growing Tulasi plants in your house or garden, the winds it releases protects from infections and diseases. The breeze of Tulasi plants is so healthy, cleanses winds from all directions into healthy winds. Tulasi fragrance only have strength to purify the Earth, water, air and Ether(Sky).

Dwadasi pooja is so important for Tulasi and Lord Krishna.

Do not pluck Tulasi leaves ‘Dallam’ without taking bath, and on Sundays, dwadasi and no-moon day ‘Amavasya’.

There is no other charity equal to removing hunger and thirst charity, no other vratham than dwadasi vratham, no other mantra superior than Gayatri mantra and there is no other deity than a Mother.

Do not touch Tulasi plant on period days or even should not move near the plant.

Tulasi plant is treated as deity, due to its medicinal values, it is used in curing several ailments.

Often moving around in the garden of Tulasi plants give bodily health, increases immunity. It purifies the blood. It keeps away from several diseases and purifies the climate or pollution in the air.

There is a tradition in India, the sacred Tulasi plants and leaves are used in the end of the life journey.

River Ganga(Ganges) is eminent of all the rivers. Tulasi leaves with water is as sacred as Ganga water. In the death time, all the Hindus pour Tulasi water in the throat of a dying person. There is a faith, Tulasi releases from all sins and gives salvation.
